LPA President Expresses Support for Government Additional Protection Policy To Pregnant Workers

Phnom Penh: The President of the Labor Rights Protection Association (LPA), Yam ThaiSan, expressed his support for the announcement of the government’s additional protection policy for pregnant women by providing financial support from pregnancy to two-year-old children, in addition to what has provided in the past, including the Prince’s various subsidies.

“It’s a good thing! We really support any policy that provides protection or benefits to workers, especially women workers,” he said.

“We hope that the Royal Government will continue to put in place new policies to improve maternal and child health and reduce the poverty of our workers,” he said.

His remarks came after the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, said, “Workers from pregnancy to the age of two year s old childrend must receive support. So, I would like to announce today “All in the economy system controlled by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, the same practices apply from pregnancy to two-year-old children.”

It should be noted that from the time of pregnancy until the child is 2 years old, a worker will receive a total subsidy of 760,000 Riels, divided into 3 stages, the first is during pregnancy is to pay 4 times one time 40,000 riels, the second stage is to give 200,000 riels at giving birth time and the third stage is after childbirth until the child under two years is to pay 10 times 40,000 riels each time.
